Interactive concert for high school students (9th until 12th grade)

Fight radicalization! During this interactive concert we will target the disarming role music can play in the lives of young people. Music offers solace, strengthens emotions and assuages growth pains. How can music influence your world view? In a preparatory workshop art and music educators will tackle these questions with their students. Musical brainstorming will lead to a spectacular concert, filled with classical and contemporary music. All this accompanied by video images of young moviemakers from Brussels.

I imagine

I imagine a world where we don’t fight, where there is no violence or hate, where there are no weapons to create hurt, where there is no prejudice against one another, where there is no anger, a world where we don’t wonder when the next tragic event will take place. I imagine a world where there is peace, love, unity, happiness, togetherness, joy, people helping one another, a world where everyone smiles and laughs and hugs one another. I would like to believe I’m not too much of a dreamer to one day see a world like this. #worldpeace #oneworld

Strings Attached

In June 2009 Pierre Anckaert explored in his Suite épicée the riches that come from partnering a jazz combo – the Pierre Anckaert Quintet – and a traditional chamber orchestra. Hence Suite épicée: an organic mix of Latin influences and classical repertoire. The work was premiered at the Basilica Festival of Flanders, together with the Brussels Chamber Orchestra, and a few months later the recording was finished. Strings Attached, Pierre Anckaert Quintet & Brussels Chamber Orchestra was released in 2010 with Prova Records, with the support of Klara and the Flemish government. After a successful CD release they went on tour with 20 concerts in Belgium and the United States.
pierre_anckaertAnd now it is time to bring Strings Attached back to life. The idea came to Pierre when he heard a concert with David Ramael and BOHO Players. The two musicians felt an immediate connection and desire to collaborate. In 2016-17 Pierre, his quartet, David and BOHO Players will confront the original arrangements of Strings Attached with new material. From this will follow an entirely new project – Strings Attached Revisited – in which they’ll  push the boundaries between jazz and classical music.

My Penpal Tchaikovsky

On Saturday December 12th, 2015, BOHO Players will present a unique family concert (at 11 a.m. in Dutch and at 12 p.m. in French) at the Russian Classics Festival of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel: “My penpal Tchaikovsky”

In a series of flashbacks the baroness von Meck takes us on a tour of Tchaikovsky’s life, his biggest successes and his deepest despairs. This program is based on the extensive correspondence between the master and von Meck, and combines theater, music and audience interaction. With musical excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s Serenade for Strings, the Andante Cantabile, the Mélodie from Souvenirs d’un lieu cherand other famous works, performed by soloists of the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel and BOHO Players, under the direction of David Ramael.

BOHO Players has set up a unique partnership for this concert with two phenomenal organizations: Bednet and Take-off. Bednet (in Flanders) and Take-off (in Wallonia) connect gravely ill children in primary and secondary education with their class via computer, so they can follow classes live from the comfort of their home. Thanks to the generous support of Proximus, this concert will be streamed live via internet, so Bednet and Take-off children can also be present for this family concert!
